30th Jan 2026
We are delighted to announce that Tiernasligo National School are the winners of the Best Sports School (Primary <100 students) at the Donegal Sports Star Awards 2025!
As a small school with just over 50 students, we take pride in our commitment to sport.
Tiernasligo NS is active in Athletics, Soccer, GAA, Rounders, Gaelic Football, Tug of War, Cycling and Walking.
In the Autumn of 2024, there was a Gold in the Inishowen Cross Country Finals in Buncrana in the U13's Boys Team event while there were individual medal winners in both the U9 and U11 Girls finals. Those children went on to represent the school in the County Finals.
In April, both the Boys and the Girls teams made it to the Inishowen Finals Day of the 5-a-side soccer competition. At the Cumann na mBunscol in June, Tiernasligo NS were crowned Donegal Rounders Champions in the 3 to 7 Teacher Category.
We couldn't be prouder of our students, our teachers and our school. Special mention goes to Ms. Theresa Doherty for her commitment to sport at Tiernasligo NS over the past 20 years. Theresa was also nominated for the Best Sports Teacher (Primary) Award. A big shout out to Oran Doherty who was nominated in the Best Sports Boy (Primary) Category at the event. A proud day for Tiernasligo NS!
